Obituary

Winifred “Jane” Masten, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the age of 82. She was born the daughter of Fred Warren and Elsie Elyita (Price) Meadows on Friday, October 15, 1943, in Ft. Worth, Texas Winifred was a resident of Platte City, Missouri and former resident of Braymer, Missouri. Jane graduated high school in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Lee Masten on November 12, 1962 in Irving, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2006.

Jane dedicated her life to her family, serving as a devoted housewife and nurturing the lives of her children and grandchildren. Her love and commitment to her family were unwavering, and she found immense joy in their company. Her belief in God was a cornerstone of her life, and she was known for her steadfast faith and loving spirit. Jane had a passion for reading and was an avid collector of lighthouses, which symbolized her guiding presence in the lives of those she loved. She had a fondness for Life Saver mints, a simple pleasure that brought her joy.

She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Barton and husband Jesse of Platte City, Missouri, and her son, Donald Masten and wife Jada of Granberry, Texas. Winifred was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren: Daniel Prothro (Heather), Echo Largent (Allyson), Donald Masten, Jr., Jeremy Masten (Desirea), Shauna Masten, Wesley Masten, and Billy Lu Masten. Her legacy continues through her 12 great-grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness. Winifred was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Lee Masten, her parents, Fred Warren Meadows and Elsie Elyita Meadows, her sons, Stephen Masten, James Masten, and Kenneth Masten Jr., her infant granddaughter Jamie Lee Baska, her brothers Warren Meadows and Wiley Meadows, and her sister Elyita Jones.

Funeral services will be held at Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri, on Saturday, September, 12, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will also be held at Lindley Pitts Funeral Home, Braymer, Missouri on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Tinney Grove Cemetery, south of Braymer, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Care Network of Platte City, Activity Fund and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
