Rowena Marie Staples, age 93, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at The Baptist Home, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Rowena was born the daughter of Lynn and Geneva (Olive) Hess on June 24, 1928l in Brooks, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Tom Staples on February 22, 1944, in Clarinda, Iowa. He preceded her in death. Rowena worked as a clerk at Places for over 20 years. She was a member of the Chillicothe Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2428.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Brittany and Ian; and one brother, Carroll Hess of Centralia, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom; two sons, Richard Staples and John Staples; and her friend, George Van Deventer.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday October 20, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at the Anderson-Smith Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.  Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home Chillicothe, Missouri on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chillicothe Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2428 and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
