Robert Earl Old, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on Saturday, February 13, 1954, in Columbia, Missouri, the son of George (Buster) and Lona Irene (Waters) Old.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 13 years, retiring with the rank of Sergeant. His commitment to service was a testament to his character and dedication to his fellow citizens. After his military career, Robert found joy in working as a handyman and engaging in various side projects, where his skills and work ethic were admired by all who knew him. Robert’s educational journey led him to earn a bachelor’s degree in history, a testament to his lifelong love of learning and understanding the past.

A man of diverse interests, Robert was an avid collector of antiques, guns, and old knives. His extensive collection of Buddhas and German mugs was a source of pride and joy, reflecting his appreciation for history and culture. Robert’s love for collecting was matched only by his love for his family.

He is survived by his mother, Lona Old; his daughter, Lei Lani Old of Columbia, Missouri; and his cherished grandchildren, Rowena Stone and Caleb of Marshfield, Missouri, Brendon Brake of Marshfield, Missouri, Keenan Brake of Trenton, Missouri, Kyra Slaughter of Trenton, Missouri, and Mariana Gibson of Trenton, Missouri. Robert was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Caiden Stone, Holden Stone, Lucas Stone, and eagerly awaited the arrival of Beckett Brake. Robert is also survived by his brother, Harold Old of Lonoke, Arkansas, and his sister, Donna Miller of Columbia, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father, George (Buster) Old, his brother Bud Old, and his sister Wanda Lou Roberts.

The family is holding an inurnment service with military honors at Nashville Baptist Church, Ashland, Missouri, 355 W. Nashville Church Road, Ashland, Missouri, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Robert Earl Old Memorial (Please make checks payable to Keenan Brake) and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
