Mary Patricia "Pat" Vanzant, age 83, a resident of Hermitage, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 21, 2025, at Citizens Memorial Hospital, Bolivar, Missouri.
Mary was born the daughter of Roger and Helen (Ferstle) Vanzant, on February 12, 1942, in Wayne, Michigan. She was raised on a farm outside of Chillicothe, Missouri from the age of five. She was a beloved sister and friend, known for her warm spirit and love for her family. Throughout her life, Pat shared her culinary talents with the community by working as a cook. Her career included esteemed positions at Dog and Suds and S.Q. Restaurant, Chillicothe, Missouri and later, University Hospital and Regional Hospital cafeterias in Columbia, Missouri. Her dedication to her craft and her kind-hearted nature made her a treasured colleague and friend to many.
Mary resided in Columbia, Missouri, where she touched the lives of countless individuals through her work until she retired in 1998. Following retirement, she moved to Hermitage to be closer to her sister, Karen, creating a new chapter filled with love and connection. Pat held a special place in her heart for her brother-in-law, Danny, whom she absolutely adored.
She is survived by her sister, Karen Chonech and her husband, Danny of Urbana, Missouri; and "adopted daughter" Debbie Lipshield Richards. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services will be held at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 1:00 pm. Online condolences may be made at www.lindleyfuneralhome.com.
