Mary “Marjorie” (Mallett) Olson
Mary (Mallett) Olson, known to most as Marge or Marjorie, age 102, a resident of Trenton, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Sunnyview Nursing Home, Trenton, Missouri.
Marjorie was born on January 2, 1922, in Laredo, Missouri, to Ralph and Gladys (Ishmael) Mallett. Marjorie had one older brother, Roy Mallett.
Marjorie graduated from Laredo High School in May 1939. She then went to Kansas City where she worked until 1943 for Lake City Arsenal.
Marjorie married Gerald Owens and they had one son, Larry. In the 1950’s she managed the Credit Bureau of Chillicothe, Missouri, until 1971. She then moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She worked for Dubl-Check of Florida, as a receptionist and payroll clerk.
In 1976, Marjorie moved back to Missouri to be with her son and first grandchild. That year she took the job as office manager for Malone Conveying Company and worked there for eight years. She then returned to Laredo, Missouri, and managed the Granada Home Senior Housing until 2007.
Marjorie was a member of the Antioch Business Professional Women’s Club of Kansas City and was elected as Woman of the Year during that time.
Marjorie’s hobbies included crocheting, painting pictures, fishing, reading and crossword puzzles.
Marjorie moved to Princeton Manor Apartments in Trenton in October 2008. She was a member and volunteer of RSVP and also a volunteer for Serve Link Home Care.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Amy Owens of Kearney, Missouri, and Corey Owens of Virginia Beach, Virginia; seven great grandchildren, Halee Walker, Autumn Owens, Bailey Owens, Landon Oliphant, Brogan Owens, Kaison Oliphant, and Maylene Owens. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Larry Owens; one grandson, Christopher Owens; one great grandson, Bryce Walker; and one brother, Roy Mallett.
Cremation was held. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to Richardson Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601. Online condolences may be made at www.lindleyfuneralhomes.com.
