Lloyd Eugene Hargrave, age 96, a resident of St. Joseph, Missouri, and former resident of Breckenridge, Missouri, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at his residence. Our family said goodbye to a legend that day.
Lloyd was born the son of Fred and Nina (Williamson) Hargrave on April 18, 1929, in Breckenridge, Missouri. He was a graduate of Breckenridge High School. He was united in marriage to Beverly Jane Bell in 1949 in Chillicothe, Missouri. She survives of the home. Lloyd retired as manager for Green Hills Telephone Company.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Hargrave, of the home; two daughters, Crista Carpenter of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Candace Goll and husband (Gerald) of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; three grandchildren, Joshua Goll (Haley), Dr. Cory Carpenter (Abby), and Kyle Carpenter; and four great grandchild, Silas Goll, Tyson Carpenter, Kate Carpenter, and Jaxson Goll. Lloyd is also survived by a nephew, Tom Bills (Donna), and a niece, Trudy Gilgour. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Hargrave; his mother, Nina (Williamson) Hargrave Trosper; one son, Craig Hargrave; two sisters, Freda Hargrave and Frances Bills; a brother-in-law, Rex Bills; two brothers, Charles Hargrave and Russell Lee Hargrave; and a nephew, Alan Bills.
Lloyd enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. One of his favorite songs was “Peace in the Valley”. The last song he sang was “Where He Leads Me I Will Follow”. He also enjoyed coaching youth baseball and building birdhouses, hunting with his dog, Duke, and fishing.
Lloyd will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
