Larry Dean Sparling, a cherished resident of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the age of 84. Born in Chillicothe, Missouri, on September 7, 1941, Larry lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love for his community and family.
Larry was a proud 1959 graduate of William Chrisman High School. Following his education, he embarked on a career that balanced his passion for farming with his technical expertise. He dedicated 29 years to AT&T as a Telephone Technician, where he was known for his commitment and skill.
In addition to his professional life, Larry served his country with honor. He enlisted in the Army in January 1961, serving until July of the same year. He continued his service with the Army National Guard from July 1961 to November 1963, and later joined the Air Force Reserve, serving from February 1964 to February 1967. Larry Dean Sparling will be remembered as a dedicated professional, a proud veteran, and a beloved family member. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Larry was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Moyne Sparling and Doris Jane Sparling, his brother David Sparling, and cousin Bonnie Draper. He is survived by several cousins who will remember him fondly for his kindness, humor, and unwavering support.
A graveside service to honor Larry's life will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Chillicothe, MO, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 10:00 am Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate his life and legacy.
