Jimmie Gale Richey, age 81, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at North Care Hospice, Kansas City, Missouri.
Jimmie was born the son of Harold Earl and Dorothy E. (Atterberry) Richey on October 20, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Southwest R-3 High School, Livingston County, Missouri, in 1962. After graduation he attended Trenton Junior College. Jimmie served in the United States Army from 1969-1970 during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Nancy J. Boyles, the love of his life, on June 4, 1971, in Meadville, Missouri. She preceded him in death on January 2, 2014. Jimmie worked as a maintenance man, manufacturing engineer, and supervisor for Donaldson Company from 1963 to 2011. He also worked for Lowe's in Chillicothe for three years, and the Livingston County Library for two years. He was a member of SME, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and a lifetime member of FORR, Freedom of Road Riders, serving as president in 1993. Jimmie was also a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, the Vern R. Glick American Legion Post #25, and Chillicothe Elks Lodge #656, as well as serving on the Chillicothe Airport Board of Directors.
Survivors include one son, Michael Richey of Platte City, Missouri; one daughter, Deanna O'Dell and husband, Rob, of Platte City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jennifer Morelock and husband, Will, of Platte City, Missouri, Kelsie O'Dell of Cocoa, Florida, Haley Ryun and husband, Tyler, of Platte City, Missouri, and John Grossman and wife, Shannon, of Carrollton, Missouri; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; and three brothers, Roger, Gary and Terry Richey. Jim loved his family and his Lord.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
