Janie Marie Isaacs, age 71, a resident of Sturgeon, Missouri, and a former resident of Wheeling, Missouri, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri. Janie was born the daughter of Robert and Edna (Lake) Stevenson on November 20, 1950 in Chillicothe, Missouri.
She was a 1968 graduate of Wheeling High School and a 1972 Graduate of Northeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor's Degree in English Education. On May 25, 1972, she married Johnny Isaacs in Wheeling, Missouri. Janie went on to teach English at Harrisburg High school for 30 years, where she was loved and admired by her students and colleagues. Janie was a member of the Missouri Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of the Wheeling Baptist Church. Janie was a lifelong lover of reading, and she enjoyed books of all kinds. Janie loved spending time with and caring for her children and grandchildren. Janie enjoyed gardening, decorating, shopping, and sharing stories. She loved time spent with friends and with her 5 sisters. She spent many happy times at speech competitions, school plays, ballgames, and other school activities. After retiring, Janie enjoyed the process of building and then living in her new home in the country in the Harrisburg community.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny, of the home; two daughters, Ann Stoll and husband, David, of Columbia, Missouri and Jessica Burbridge and husband, Brad, of Harrisburg, Missouri; four grandchildren, John and Alaina Stoll and Lindsey and Abigail Burbridge; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters, Joyce O'Malley, Barbara Owings, Annabelle Brockmeier, Shirley Reed, and Mary Anderson.
Graveside services will be held at the Wheeling Cemetery, Wheeling, Missouri, on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Wheeling Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
