Imogene Faye Grouse
Imogene Faye Grouse, age 97, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at NorthCare Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.
Imogene was born the daughter of Robert Cecil and Bessie Chloe (Wendell) Baldwin on May 31, 1928, in Davis City, Iowa. She was a graduate of Chillicothe High School. Imogene was united in marriage to Robert Grouse on October 30, 1948 in Chillicothe, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 26, 2017.
Imogene was a member of the Lifepoint Church in Chillicothe, Missouri. She worked at Lambert Glove factory, as well as the Eagle’s and Worlds of Fun. Imogene had the best of times while driving the Shuttle at Worlds of Fun. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and listening to country music, especially Merle Haggard and Patsy Cline. Imogene loved her flower beds and watching her plants grow; she had a great fondness for her roses. She also loved to clean house and work around the yard, even painting the deck by hand. Her family was her greatest joy.
Survivors include one son, Robert “David” Grouse of Chillicothe, Missouri; one daughter, Diana “Jeanie” Hinnen (Fred) of Chillicothe, Missouri; one son-in-law, Charlie Peniston of Chillicothe, Missouri; ten grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Jan Coyle of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Debra Peniston; one grandson, Thomas Jason Simmons; one great-grandson, Dalton Tyler Sampsel; one daughter-in-law, Diana Grouse; three brothers, Don Baldwin, Wayne Baldwin, and Dean Baldwin; and three sisters, Reva Carr, Betty Matthews, and Madeline Raney.
Graveside services will be held at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Friends may call at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Festival of Lights and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
