Helen "JoAnn" Mantlo, age, 86, a beloved resident of Laredo, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 5th, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on Friday, April 28th, 1939, the daughter of Willard and LaVern (Wright) Bishop. JoAnn lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to others.
JoAnn was a member of Laredo Baptist Church, she loved her church family. She was a song leader, Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher and helper. Her family takes great comfort that she is now with her Lord Jesus in her new body, and she is healed forever. She spoiled the pastors by baking their favorite cakes. JoAnn was a great cook, going above and beyond to bring a new recipe to every family dinner. She also had a special talent for making jams and jellies that she shared with her family and friends. JoAnn loved the farm animals, taking special care of each one of them. JoAnn loved to travel with her sister, June. They took many trips together.
JoAnn was a devoted Certified Med Tech, dedicating many years of her career to caring for others at Sunnyview Nursing Home and Apartments in Trenton, Missouri. Her compassion and commitment to her work left a lasting impact on her colleagues and the many residents she cared for over the years.
She is survived by her son, Keith Mantlo, and his wife Melody of Trenton, Missouri. Helen was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren: John Ray, Jeniffer Ray, Tabetha Moreels, and Anthony Mantlo, and a great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren: Bennett, Brynlee, Faith, Charlie, Carson, and Hattie. She is also survived by her brother, Dale Bishop of Choctaw, Oklahoma, and her sister, June Rogers of Ft. Worth, Texas. JoAnn was preceded in death by her loving parents, Willard Bishop and LaVern Wright, her cherished husband, William Joseph Mantlo, and her son, Kevin Mantlo. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Dennis Bishop, Wayne Bishop, and Dean Bishop.
Helen JoAnn Mantlo will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering dedication to her family and community, and the love she shared with all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Funeral services will be held at Laredo Baptist Church, Laredo, Missouri, on Friday, April 10th, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 pm. Burial will be held at Stucker Cemetery, Laredo, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Laredo Baptist Church and may be left or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47 Chillicothe, Missouri, 64601. In addition, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Laredo Fire House on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
