George Lee Holloway, age 80, a resident of Trenton, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at The Neighborhoods by Tiger Place, Columbia, Missouri. He was born the son of William Harold and Gertrude “Irene” (McMullen) Holloway on Saturday, November 17, 1945, in Laredo, Missouri. George was a 1963 graduate of Laredo High School. He went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He served as an Army Medical Corpsman and received several medals of honor including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal and three Bronze Stars that he received for his bravery in the line of duty. His commitment to service and country was a testament to his character and strength. George worked for many years as a union carpenter, then kept busy with remodeling and a variety of home projects. He loved to fish, garden, collect antiques and spend all the time he could with his four grandchildren. He would grow over 100 tomato and pepper plants each year and together with his boys, perfected The Holloway salsa recipe. Much of his gardening enjoyment came from giving away much of the produce to family and friends. His passion was just spending time at the farm in Laredo. Whether hunting, gardening, mowing or just passing the time, if he wasn’t home, he was at the farm or at a produce auction in Jamesport.
George is survived by his two sons, Greg Holloway and wife, Angela, of Columbia, Missouri and Shane Holloway and wife, Lyndsy, of Columbia, Missouri; four grandchildren, Hannah
(Cole) Piercy of Lebanon, Missouri, Hayden Holloway, Mickayla Holloway and Isabella Holloway, all of Columbia, Missouri; great grandson, Rue Piercy; two sisters, Dollie Nibarger of Chillicothe, Missouri and Diana (Dennis) Barnard of Trenton, Missouri; and nine nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents, William and Irene Holloway, son, Brian Lee Holloway; and his sisters, Karen Ireland and two infant sisters, Patsy and Linda Holloway.
