Brian Englert

June 18, 1971 — June 21, 2025

Chillicothe

Eric “Brian” Englert, age 54, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at University Health Kansas City Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.
Brian was born the son of Jerry and Betty (Shull) Englert on June 18, 1971, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He was a graduate of Hale High School and the University of Central Missouri, majoring in aviation and marketing. He was united in marriage to Melissa Montgomery on January 6, 1996, in Hale, Missouri. She survives of the home. Brian was immensely proud of their two children, Andrew and Myra, and adored the family’s clowder of tripod cats. Brian was passionate about bicycling, sailing, watches and the contextual analysis of music. Earlier this year, he launched his sailboat “Adagio” in Sailboat Cove at Smithville Lake. He found it to be a calming retreat that balanced his lifelong love of the busier Lake of the Ozarks. He felt blessed to serve on many community boards over the years, including the Hedrick Medical Center/St. Luke’s Health Systems, Chillicothe Main Street, the Economic Vitality Committee for Chillicothe Main Street, Grand River YMCA, Chillicothe Cultural Corner, Livingston County Community Foundation, Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce, Salvation Army, and Staff Parish and Board of Trustees of the Chillicothe United Methodist Church. He also thoroughly enjoyed assisting the local community with their lending and banking needs through Investors Community Bank for 20 years and most recently through Southern Bank as Community Bank President. Brian is survived by his wife, Melissa Englert; his parents, Betty and Jerry Englert; one son, Andrew Englert; one daughter, Myra Englert; one brother, Scott Englert and wife Kelley; four nephews, Jordan Westfall, Justin Westfall and wife Katie, Jace Westfall, and Austin Keith; five nieces, Nashea Shields, Danielle Shields, Belle Englert, Addie Englert and Avery Keith; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bud and Donna Shull; and paternal grandparents, Raymond and Faye Englert.
