Duane Allen Thompson, age 85, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at his residence.
Duane was born the son of Paul and Martha (Wynne) Thompson on January 10, 1940, in Jamesport, Missouri. He was a graduate of Jamesport Tri-County High School. He was united in marriage to Beverly Stretch on December 30, 1961, in Jamesport, Missouri. She survives of the home. Duane worked as a propane delivery driver for over 45 years for Skelgas and then MFA, where he was also a manager. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. Duane enjoyed baling hay and raising cattle. He didn’t know a stranger and loved teasing friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly, of the home; two sons, Rick Thompson and wife, Pam, of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Russ Thompson and wife, Sheila, of Laredo, Missouri; one daughter, Lisa Loney and husband, Nolan, of Chillicothe, Missouri; six grandchildren, Dustin Thompson (Gabby), Cody Thompson (Kayla), Lauren Jones, Carlee Quinn (Zach) all of Chillicothe, Missouri, Rylee Johnson and Tracer of Chula, Missouri, and Emma Thompson of Laredo, Missouri; and seven great grandchildren, Ellynor, Genevieve, and Weston Thompson, Talan and Tinley Thompson, and Gatlin and Gracelyn Quinn. He is also survived by one brother, Forrest Thompson and wife, Donna, of Stotts City, Missouri; three sisters, Virginia Mason of Kansas City, Missouri, Nina Smith and husband, Gary, of Raymore, Missouri, and Charlene Armitage and husband, Vernon, of Liberty, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Floyd Thompson.
Graveside services will be held at Old Scotland Cemetery, Jameson, Missouri, on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chula Fire Department and/or St. Luke’s Hospice and/or Old Scotland Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
