Dorothy Lea Sutton

Dorothy Lea Sutton, age 94, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Indian Hills, a Stonebridge Community, Chillicothe, Missouri. She was born the daughter of James Everett and Birdie Lea (Nichols) Spence on June 21, 1931, in Wright County, Missouri. She was united in marriage to William “Bill” Sutton. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2023. Dorothy lived a life filled with love, kindness, and dedication to her family and community. Professionally, Dorothy devoted many years serving as a cashier at Farmers Electric, where she was known for her friendly demeanor, unwavering work ethic, and commitment to her colleagues and customers. Dorothy was also a farmer, working the family farm alongside her husband and son.

She is survived by her loving son, Spencer D. Sutton and grandson, Dawson A. Sutton, who brought immense joy and pride into her life. Dorothy's legacy will also continue to live on through the many lives she touched throughout her long and fulfilling life.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill; her parents; two brothers, Nichols Spence and Mike Spence; and two sisters, Betty Smith and Eunice Harlan. Despite these losses, Dorothy carried forward with resilience and grace, touching the lives of all who knew her.

Cremation has been untrusted to Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. There will be no services per her wishes.
