Colby Darin Newman, age 24, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026. He was born the son of Darin and Erica (Miles) on Saturday, July 6, 2002, in Chillicothe, Missouri, Colby was a cherished son, brother, and friend. He spent his entire life in Chillicothe, where he touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor, and passion for music.

Colby was a proud 2021 graduate of Chillicothe High School, where he not only excelled academically but also pursued his love for music as an accomplished trumpet player. His passion for music extended beyond school, as he was a self-taught guitarist, loved playing the bass guitar, and was learning to play the drums. Colby's musical talents were a source of joy to those around him. After high school, Colby received his Vo-Tech Certification and began his career as a Correctional Officer with the Missouri Department of Corrections in Chillicothe. Over his three years of service, he was known for his dedication, professionalism, and the respect he showed to both colleagues and inmates.

Colby is survived by his parents, Darin and Erica Newman of Chillicothe, Missouri; his brother, Sutton Newman of Chillicothe, Missouri; his sisters, Morgan Newman of Chula, Missouri, and Sydney Newman of Chillicothe, Missouri; and his uncle, Brad Stubbs of Chillicothe, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Karen Burton; his maternal grandfather, Scott Miles; and his paternal grandmother, Melody Newman.

Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe, Missouri on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be at Lindley Funeral Home on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the CHS Marching Hornets in honor of Colby's enduring love for music.
