Chris Baker

October 30, 1958 — January 17, 2026

Chillicothe

Chris Allen Baker, age 67, of Chillicothe, Missouri, after a hard-fought battle with brain cancer, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Chris was born on October 30, 1958, in Chillicothe, Missouri, to Buel "Tuffy" and Josephine (Burton) Baker. He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1977. Following his graduation, Chris honorably served in the United States Navy, where he developed a deep love for his country and went on many adventures. Chris loved sharing his Navy stories with his family. Later in life, he became an entrepreneur who founded Baker's Mobile Wash and spent many years power washing businesses and homes throughout the Chillicothe area. He was also a member of the Veterans Association, American Legion, and served on the Livingston County NRCS board
of directors.

On June 23, 1984, Chris married Amy Louise Greenwood, with whom he shared almost 42 years of marriage. They shared a lifetime of love, lots of laughter, and cherished memories. Together, they built and worked on their farm. Chris took great pride in their home, and most days could be seen outside mowing, visiting with neighbors, or spending time with their animals. His beloved dog, Billy, was always by his side. Chris enjoyed taking beautiful pictures of their farm and showing them off to his friends on Facebook. He often revealed his poetic side by sharing these photos with an inspiring quote or favorite song lyric.

Chris was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, and great uncle who was always up for fun. The children in his life were his greatest joy, and he truly made their time with him magical. He will be especially remembered for carving pumpkins, giving tractor rides, swimming in the pond, and building anything they could dream of. In the past five years, he became "PopPop" to his grandchildren, Ty and Mae. Though their time together was short, the bond they shared and the memories they created will live on in their hearts forever.

Chris is survived by his wife, Amy (Greenwood) Baker; his daughter, Jaimie Backhaus, and her husband, Alex; his two grandchildren, Ty and Mae Backhaus; his siblings, Brenda Block (Ed), Leland "Bub" Baker (Joyce), and David Baker (Cindy); as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Buel and Josephine Baker.
