Allan James Toedebusch, age 83, a resident of rural Wheeling, MO passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, July 17, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospice House, Kansas City, MO. Allan was born the first of eleven children to Omar Henry and Bertha (Kleeshulte) Toedebusch on November 6, 1942 in St. Louis, MO. He attended and graduated from high school in 1960 from St. Thomas Acquinas in Florissant, MO. Allan proudly served in the United States Army after graduation. He spent his time guarding the equipment on the bases where he served.
He was united in marriage to Linda Carol (Lorenz) Toedebusch on May 11, 1963 in Florissant, MO. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on January 18, 2020. In 1974, the Toedebuschs' moved to rural Wheeling, MO where Allan and Linda purchased and farmed many acres of row crop. That tradition continues today as his son and grandsons continue his legacy by farming thousands of acres of row crops. Allan also worked for Toedebusch Transfer Trucking for several years. From that, one of Allan's favorite sayings was born. "Hey, driver!," was his way of saying hello, and he used these words the duration of his life.
Hunting waterfowl was one of his favorite hobbies. He shared his knowledge of the hunt and conservation and upkeep of the land with many over the years. Hunting ducks, snow geese and quail was a family favorite for all men Toedebusch. Sports of all kinds, especially baseball and basketball, were his favorite television pastimes. It was not unusual if the Celtics made it to post season play for the planting to come to a halt for a few hours. However, Allan was most proud of being grandpa to his three grandsons, and nothing made him more happy then watching them participate in a game regardless of the sport. Allan and Linda were well known at the YMCA, SBA, Hornet and Mudcat events.
He is survived by his sons, Kenny Toedebusch and his significant other, Amy Rucker of Chillicothe, MO and Mark Donor and his partner, Tim Maes of St. Louis, MO; three grandsons, Troy Toedebusch and his wife, Tierney, of Wheeling, MO, Cal Toedebusch and his wife, Keeley, of Chillicothe, MO and Drew Toedebusch of Chillicothe, MO; three great grandchildren, Marlow, Mac and Weston; four brothers, Carl (Cathy) Toedebusch of Hazelwood, MO, Lenny (Sue) Toedebusch of Troy, MO, John (Marilyn) Toedebusch of Wentzville, MO, and Steve Toedebusch of Alton, IL; six sisters, Janice (Dr. Kent) Cooper of Branson, MO, Donna Toedebusch of St. Louis, MO, Helen (Steve) Grigaitis of Ellisville, MO, Sue Bryant of Savannah, GA, Carolyn (Carl) Landwehr of Jefferson City, MO and Jane (Richard) Merz of Wright City, MO; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Linda and great grandson, Waylon.
A celebration of Allan's Life will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to service time. Friends may come to the Lindley Funeral Home to pay their respects and sign the register book on Friday, July 31, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Inurnment will be held following service at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Wheeling, MO.
