It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Abby Lee Thompson Nava, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Abby passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2026, in Cowgill, Missouri, at the age of 40.
Abby was born the daughter of Mike Thompson and Georgia (Buckner) Way on April 10, 1986, in Chillicothe, Missouri, Abby was a vibrant and loving individual who touched the lives of everyone she met. She was a 2004 graduate of Braymer High School and went on to become a successful business developer, self-employed in Houston, Texas. Abby had a remarkable talent for starting and selling businesses, and her entrepreneurial spirit was an inspiration to many.
Abby had a passion for decorating and hosting events, always ensuring that each occasion was beautifully set and memorable. She enjoyed cooking and took great pleasure in setting a pretty table for her guests. Abby loved to travel with her husband and family, creating cherished memories along the way. She enjoyed tending to her garden as well as spending time with her horse. Above all, she was a devoted mother who ensured her children were well cared for and loved her whole family dearly.
Abby is survived by her father, Mike Thompson; her mother, Georgia Way and step-father, Mitchell Way; her loving spouse, Diesel Nava, and their five children: Gavin McKnight of Kansas City, Missouri; Diesel Nava of Columbia, Missouri; Leo Nava of Houston, Texas; Alice McKnight of Lubbock, Texas; and Ixchel Nava of Houston, Texas. She was the proud grandmother of Riyah, who was the light of her life. Abby is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Edna Kenslo; one brother, Alex Way, of Cowgill, Missouri; her two sisters, Brook Elaine and Anna Taylor, both of Kansas City, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, George Buckner, and her paternal grandparents, Bob and Genie Thompson.

Abby's warmth, kindness, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love and dedication to her family and community will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
