Carl R. Kerr Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Carl Robert Kerr, age 90, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away at the Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, July 24, 2010. He was born the son of Lawrence R. Kerr and Polly M. (Miller) Kerr, on May 6, 1920, in Sedalia, Missouri. He was a 1937 graduate of Lincoln High School in Sedalia, Missouri. At age 19, he moved to Chillicothe, Missouri from Sedalia. On May 15, 1941, he married Emma Lucile Banks in Trenton, Missouri. She preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II from 1942 to 1945 in France, Germany, and England. He was employed at Barnes-Baker Automotives for over 30 years, and was a sales representative for Newton Manufacturing for 35 years. Carl was a member of the American Legion Vern R. Glick Post Number 75, a member of the Masonic Lodge Golden Rule 77, and a Boy Scout Leader. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Chillicothe, Missouri for many years. He was the church financial secretary and a longstanding choir member. He is survived by one daughter, Emily Hall, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Carl Jr. and Gerald, four brothers: Harold Lee, Leonard, Charles and Melvin; and three sisters: Florence, Virginia and Lucille. Services will be at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 601 Waples, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. There will be a family visitation 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. Friends may call from 12:00 to 9:00 pm. on Tuesday at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
